The BIOCONSION project purports to record, characterise, evaluate, and conserve native plant species of the Region of Ionian Islands with medicinal value within the framework of the National Biodiversity Strategy.
The specific goals are
Goal 1
To record and showcase valuable genetic resources and educate the public about them.
Goal 2
To contribute to the conservation and protection of stenotopic species with medicinal value that are threatened by environmental pressures and climate change.
Goal 3
To study the chemical composition of plant tissues and explore the possibility of using their metabolites for treating diseases with natural methods.
Goal 4
To contribute to the realisation of special targets of the National Biodiversity Strategy.
